Theses and Dissertations

 

A proper citation for a thesis or dissertation should include following elements:

  1. Author:  full name of the thesis writer.
  2. Title of the work: italicized.
  3. Descriptive label: indicates type of work (e.g., PhD diss., MA thesis, MS thesis).
  4. Institution name:  the university or college granting the degree.
  5. Year – year of completion.
  6. Repository / Website Name/ Database Name: if accessed online (italic before the URL)
  7. DOI or URL: Optional if accessed online.
  8.  Access date: if no stable publication date exists.

 

Basic Format

Author Last Name, First Name. Title of Thesis or Dissertation. Type of work, Name of Institution, Year.
