What is a patent?

• A patent is a legal document giving the patent owner certain exclusive rights to his/her invention for a limited time.
• Patents are an excellent source of information on new technology, trends in technological development, and specific products or innovations. 

Lebanese Patent Law

• Article 1 : Any patentable invention that grants its owner and his successors the exclusive right to utilize such, comply to the provisions of Chapters One and Two of the Law hereinafter. 
• Article 5: the exclusive right to exploit the invention subject matter of a patent is twenty years from the date of filling the application.

How to register a patent in Lebanon?

• Deposit and register the invention and obtain a patent certificate from the Intellectual Property Protection Department at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.
