The “Read and Publish” agreement with Oxford University Press, which started in January 2023, will continue till 31 December 2026.
The Agreement will enable UOB affiliated corresponding authors to publish open access without paying Article Processing Charge (APC) in OUP's hybrid subscription journals and OUP fully Open Access journals.

There is no limit to the number of articles to be published.

Author eligibility

  • Responsible corresponding authors must include University of Balamand as their primary affiliation to benefit from this agreement
  • Responsible corresponding authors must use their University of Balamand email address when submitting an article for publication. 
  • Be accepted for publication in an Oxford journal covered by the agreement.

Eligible article types

Open access publishing covered under this Read & Publish agreement includes the following article types:

  • Research articles
  • Review articles
  • Case reports
  • Brief reports.

Article types excluded from this agreement include, but are not limited to:

  • Book Reviews
  • Supplement Article

Author rights

Articles from authors at participating institutions may be published under the authors' choice of either:

  • CC-BY
  • CC-BY-NC

The Creative Commons licenses allow reuse (some with conditions) while protecting the authors' rights of acknowledgment as authors. Authors retain copyright.

How to submit your article for open access publishing

  1. Follow the publisher's usual article submission process via the journal’s homepage.
  2. On acceptance of the article, the publisher will ask the corresponding author to complete a form (publishing agreement).
  3. The corresponding author selects open access and confirms the license type. Please note, you will be asked to confirm that you will pay the open access charge, however, the charge will be automatically waived if your article is assessed as eligible for publishing under the agreement with no APCs.
  4. Proceed to payment and select Lebanese Academic Library Consortium (LALC affiliated) from the dropdown list of institutions beneath ‘Open Access Prepayment Account’ on the Article Charges page.
  5. Check the Refer Charge box next to the Open Access charge, and then click Refer Charges at the bottom of the page.
